While in law school he participated in a civil rights litigation clinic where, under the guidance of a professor, he assisted in the litigation and representation of the clinic's clients; Touro Law School recognized his work with the Certificate for Academic Excellence in Civil Rights Litigation.

An active member of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, Mr. Bergman is admitted to the New York State Bar as well as the Eastern and Southern Districts of the United States Federal Court. He serves as Chief Counsel to the Board of Directors of the Police Surgeons Benevolent Association and to the Rev. Kowsky Lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police, and volunteers his time in fundraisers providing financial assistance to police officers severely injured in the line of duty.

Over the past 20 years Mr. Bergman has litigated thousands of personal injury cases and personally negotiated over $150 million for his injured clients. New York Magazine's Top Verdicts & Settlements and Personal Injury Litigators recognized him among top litigators.
