Injury cases in Long Island City

Long Island City has been among the busiest construction environments in New York City for more than a decade, and that dominates the local case mix. High-rise residential towers, conversions of industrial buildings, façade and hoisting operations, and interior fit-outs generate the full range of Labor Law § 240(1) elevation cases — falls from scaffolds, ladders and platforms, and objects falling on workers below.
  1. 01

Where the statute applies, the owner and general contractor face absolute liability and comparative fault does not reduce the recovery.

  2. 02

The traffic side is Queens Plaza, Jackson Avenue, Vernon Boulevard, Northern Boulevard and the approaches to the Queensboro Bridge and the Queens–Midtown Tunnel, where commuter, truck and cyclist traffic mix at high volume.

  3. 03

The neighbourhood also has substantial warehouse, film-production and last-mile logistics employment, which produces workplace injuries where a third party — a site owner, a contractor, an equipment supplier — is liable alongside the employer.

If there was more than 5 stars Seth Fields and his associates would get them all. Mr. FIelds went to trial with a jury in Suffolk Cty Riverhead Supreme Ct & won w/ a verdict in minutes for 100% Liability. The defense worked with Mr. FIelds in a settlement before the damages trial began. I would stop here searching any further & contact Seth Fields if you want a Smart, Attainable for your questions, concerns, Empathetic to your needs but a Bull Dog with your case, then you found your attorney.I can’t thank you enough for all your long hours, weekends, holidays that you put into 7 yrs of all my medical, motions, hearings & trial etc. WE WON! You did it and obtained a large settlement that I couldn’t be more happy after this long tough journey. I would refer everyone to you that has a case that needs fighting for. 🙏

The most amazing, professional and knowledgeable with great communicators with injury law, and I highly recommend that there is no reason for second and third opinions on procuring a law firm with their experience and know how. They are second to none. My time was precious, and they respected every minute of it. Thank you!

I fell on a construction site in LIC.
You likely have both a workers' compensation claim and a Labor Law claim against the owner and general contractor. Under § 240(1) an elevation-related fall generally carries absolute liability, and being told the accident was your own fault does not change that.
Who else could be responsible on a site like that?
The owner, the construction manager, the general contractor, other trades' subcontractors, and equipment manufacturers or lessors. Identifying every entity early decides how much insurance stands behind the claim.
I am paid off the books.
That does not remove your rights. The Labor Law protects the worker on the site, and workers' compensation covers employees regardless of how they are paid or of immigration status.
